A 17-year-old boy was walking with his sister Tuesday afternoon when he was assaulted and shot in the knee. The boy reportedly saw a car he recognized pull up near where he and his sister were walking at the intersection of Harold and Patricia drives just before 4 p.m.
He told his sister to run away. At least one assailant got out of the car, what police believe is a silver Chevy Cobalt, and assaulted the juvenile. When his sister returned, she noticed the victim suffered a gunshot wound in the knee. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His condition is was not immediately known. Police located a car matching the description of the vehicle a few blocks away. Investigators are working to locate the owners. Police told News 2 early evidence suggests the crime may have been gang-related.
