Burglars escape attic after homeowner traps them inside

Metro police are investigating a residential burglary in north Nashville.

Police received the call just after 11 a.m. Tuesday from the owner of the home located in the 4,000 block of Yoest Drive off of Hunters Lane, just down the street from Hunters Lane High School.

Police said the suspects were able to gain access into the home using the back door while the homeowner was away running errands.

Once the homeowner returned home, he noticed his TV was missing and heard some noise coming from the attic.  Police said the man quickly locked the attic door trapping the suspects.

The suspects eventually busted out a window, jumped out and took off in an escape car.  They managed to take a number of electronic devices, including a flat screen TV and laptop.

At this time investigators do not have a description of the suspects and don't know how many were involved with the burglary.

Police said the suspects got away in a red compact car with temporary tags.

Anyone with information is urged to call Metro police or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
