Memphis student charged with carrying gun to class

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A University of Memphis student has been jailed on a charge of carrying a loaded gun to class.

The Commercial Appeal reported that police patted down 21-year-old George Miller on Wednesday after receiving a tip from another student.

Police say they found the loaded gun and two other magazines, also fully loaded, in a bag Miller was carrying.

After Miller stepped outside the class, police patted him down and found the gun, which was loaded with a full magazine. Police also found two other magazines, also fully loaded, in a bag he was carrying.

Miller has been charged with carrying a gun on school property. He is being held at the Shelby County Jail.

Jail records did not list an attorney.
