School accidentally gets pot in police donation

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee teacher and his students got more than equipment when they went through a donation from a drug task force.

Stewart County High School agriculture teacher Jordan McMillan told The Leaf-Chronicle a bag of marijuana turned up among confiscated grow lights and hydroponic growing equipment given to the school by the 23rd Judicial District Drug Task Force.

McMillan took the contraband to the school's resource officer.

Task Force Director David Hicks says the equipment had been seized from a pot-growing operation, and apparently a small amount of marijuana was missed in their inventory.

Hicks said the small amount of marijuana, which is known as "scrapings," was returned destroyed.

McMillan says his students plan to grown tomato plants as a trial run with the equipment.
