Man faces DUI charges after crashing into downtown YMCA

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man is in jail after crashing his car into the downtown YMCA building early Thursday morning.

According to a police affidavit, Jose Rivas-Martinez was traveling on YMCA Way, near Church Street when the single-vehicle crash occurred around 1 a.m.

Arresting officers reported Rivas-Martinez smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet.

Rivas-Martinez sustained minor injuries. He faces his second DUI offense.

The YMCA was not badly damaged and should be able to reopen as regularly scheduled on Friday.
