NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Nashville Predators "Smash Hunger Rally" is underway at Bridgestone Arena.

The all-day event is a food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank in the plaza of the arena at the corner of Broadway and Fifth Avenue.

Fans are encouraged to drop off non-perishable items, especially peanut butter, pasta, cereal, and canned meat, fruit, vegetables, and soup. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

Collections begin at 6 a.m. and will continue until game time.

Food trucks and other activities are planned throughout the day.

Donors will receive free tickets to Monday night's game against the Phoenix Coyotes, but tickets are limited.

Monday's game is Military Appreciation Night, honoring members of the armed forces as well as hometown heroes, including local first responders. The puck drops at 7 p.m.

The team will also be home for the holidays, with a game on Thanksgiving night against the Edmonton Oilers.  The game will kick off "Gold Friday," Bridgestone  Arena's take on Black Friday.

Discounts will be available on hockey games and other upcoming arena events.  Pro Shop deals will also be available.
