This weekend's frigid air will come in two steps. The first on Saturday will drop temps into 40s for highs (falling into 30s).
The second one moves in Saturday night into Sunday when temps will probably not get out of the 30s.
That second surge is noted in the two graphics to the right showing the cold air pooled up in NW Canada and in Alaska.
Models are indicating a Gulf Low developing Monday or Tuesday. This could bring sleet or freezing rain before it changes over to all rain Monday or Tuesday.
Lots of details remain to be seen, so we'll keep you posted.
One thing that's for sure is the frigid air for the weekend.
