A man was seriously injured in an accident in west Nashville Wednesday night. The circumstances surrounding that accident are under investigation.
Officers responded to what was dispatched as a pedestrian being struck by a car on Wedgewood Avenue near Waverly Avenue just before 10 p.m.
The 63-year-old victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with injuries not consistent with being struck by a vehicle, according to doctors.
Police also reported there was so evidence of a vehicular accident at the scene.
Detectives are investigating whether the man's injuries occurred due to an assault resulting in a medical episode, or if it was a medical episode that caused him to fall.
The victim's name was not released.
