NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean visited three after school programs at Apollo Middle School Wednesday.

The visits were in part to celebrate a new hot meals program, Nashville After Zone Alliance, which is a partnership with Metro schools.

"This new after school meals program is one more example of how our shared commitment with Metro Schools is directly benefiting young people," Mayor Dean said. "The hours after school are a critical time in the life of middle-schoolers, and I'm proud that NAZA is thriving and growing to serve more of our students in such a positive way."

Four hundred middle school students are currently enrolled in 19 NAZA programs at 13 Metro schools. They will all receive hot meals for the first time as part of their after school activities.
