NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A jury convicted a man on Monday for kidnapping his estranged girlfriend on Christmas Day in 2011.

Authorities said Kelvin Pickett grabbed his ex-girlfriend and placed her in a chokehold when she and her daughter returned to their home to retrieve clothes.

Pickett then dragged the woman to her car and drove her to a west Nashville residence to another vehicle and tied her hands together with duct tape.

A neighbor witnessed the incident and called police.

Pickett was arrested and charged more than a month later for the incident and was served an order of protection. He was released on a $9,000 on January 30, 2012.

Pickett is scheduled to be sentenced on December 17. He also still faces additional charges for attempted homicide from a shooting incident involving the same victim that occurred in March.

During the spring incident, Pickett is accused of shooting his estranged girlfriend as she was leaving her home.

The woman survived the gunshot wounds.
