A Murfreesboro man charged with killing his wife on Valentine's Day, the same day he was scheduled to appear in court for abusing her son, will go on trial next year.
Jacob Pearman waived his right to appear in a Rutherford County courtroom for his arraignment Monday morning.
Pearman is charged with murdering his wife, Carla, and abusing her son.
Monday, Pearman's child abuse charged was knocked down. In exchange, prosecutors will not seek the death penalty for the murder count.
The judge also decided to hold Pearman's child abuse and murder trial at the same time to spare the family from going through two emotional trials.
