Thousands of shoppers got a jumpstart on their Christmas list this weekend in Nashville.

The Nashville Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club brought its 53rd annual Christmas Village shopping event to the Tennessee State Fairgrounds.

The event, which was started in 1961, brought out more than 270 merchants with a variety of unique seasonal and gift items including toys for all ages, clothing for children and adults, jewelry, and food.

Christmas Village has raised more than $8.5 million benefiting local organizations.

While the primary beneficiary is the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center, the money also benefits The Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and the Tennessee Beta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi at Vanderbilt.

Christmas Village ends at 6 p.m. Sunday evening. More information can be found on their Web site.
