MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Friends and family rallied behind a Murfreesboro teen in the fight for his life on Saturday evening.

Members of the Oakland High School baseball team and booster club supported 17-year-old Devin Cairo by helping raise money for him by waiting tables at McAlister's Deli on Memorial Boulevard in Murfreesboro.

The Oakland High School baseball pitcher was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin's Lymphoma in September following a visit to a walk-in clinic.

Devin's family says they are happy to receive so much help from the community.

"It's overwhelming all the support we have gotten so far from everybody. It means more then words can put together," said Bill Cairo, Devin's father.

Devin just finished his third of six rounds of chemotherapy, and so far it's working.

The proceeds raised from Saturday's benefit will help Devin's family with medical bills.
