A fisherman found a man's body near the Rock Harbor Marina in west Nashville Saturday afternoon.
"I come down here to go fishing and then I walked up on the body," Stephen Terwilliger told News 2. "Whoever it is, they were face down is all I know and that's when I called the police."
Police said the decomposing body was found near the marina along the 6000 block of Robertson Avenue.
Terwilliger, who lives just down the street from the marina, was walking along a trail heading to the water for a day of fishing when he made the discovery.
"I hope he wasn't killed," Terwilliger told News 2, adding, "I hope they find out whatever went on with it."
Police said the remains may be those of a 55-year-old Nashville man.
Investigators are working to identify the body and the cause of death.
No foul play is suspected.
