NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Tennessee Titans are teaming up with several businesses to encourage fans to bring non-perishable food items to their Thursday night game.

The Fill-a-bag Food Drive, benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank, is aiming to set a record as the largest NFL food drive by gathering over 24,000 pounds of food.

"One, because it's right before the holidays, but it's also a big deal because we are having more people come to our door than ever before in the last couple of years as the recession has kind of hanged on and it hasn't really improved tremendously," said President and CEO of Second Harvest, Jaynee Day.

She continued, "We still have a lot of families that are coming to us and needing assistance."

Volunteers from the food bank and United Healthcare will be stationed around LP Field at eight different charity drop off zones Thursday.

Donations can be made beginning at 5 p.m. until kick-off, at 7:25 p.m.

Monetary donations will be accepted at the drop off sites as well.

Second Harvest also offers the ability for fans and supporters to donate through a virtual food drive Thursday.  To donate online, click here.

Area Kroger stores will have pre-packaged food donation bags available, and will also accept donations in-store.

"We are trying to make it as simple as possible because every can that people donate touches a family," Day stated.

The most needed food items include canned tuna or chicken, peanut butter, cereal, canned vegetables, canned fruit, pasta, soup and canned stew.

Fan attending the game can bring their donations along to leave at the drop-off sites.
