A third-period goal by Patric Hornqvist allowed the Nashville Predators to avoid a shut-out loss for the third straight game. It was the lone goal in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders.

Goaltender Marek Mazanec made his first NHL start for the Predators allowing three goals on 33 shots. New York net-minder Kevin Poulin snapped a three game losing streak with 32 saves.

Hornqvist's goal came at 14:30 in the third period snapping 174 minutes of scoreless hockey for the Predators. They have been out-scored 13-1 in their last three contests.

The Predators wrap up their 17-day road trip Friday night in Pittsburgh. They return home Saturday to face the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.
