Indoor football returns to Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Music City will once again be home to indoor football. The Nashville Venom will be the eighth member of the Professional Indoor Football League.

The team will play their six home games at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. The Venom open their season March 22nd on the road in Albany, GA. The home opener is set for April 5th against the Harrisburg Stampede.

The Venom is the second indoor team to call Nashville home. The Nashville Kats played in Nashville from 1997 to 2001 and then again in 2005 to 2007. Managing Partner Jeff Knight says the organization is excited to bring indoor football back to Nashville.

"Nashville has had a good history of having arena football with the Kats," says Knight. "History says that Nashville supports it. It's good product, it's a good venture and we promise if you come out, you'll really like it."

The Venom will be coached by Billy Back who was, most recently, with the Cincinnati Commandos of the UIFL. With Back as head coach, the Commandos won three indoor championships.
