Hotel near Nashville airport robbed at gunpoint

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are investigating after a hotel clerk was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night.

Crews responded shortly before 7 p.m. to the Nashville Airport Inn & Suites at 2425 Atrium Way in south Nashville, not too far from the Nashville International Airport.

Police told News 2 a masked man entered the hotel with a gun before. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

A manager at the hotel told News 2 the cashier did exactly what she was trained to do and gave the money to the robber as requested.

She was forced to the ground with a gun to her head and said she was "very shaken up" after the incident.

The hotel utilizes a security window after 7 p.m. but since the robbery occurred before that time, the front door was open.

Police are searching for a suspect.
