A Columbia man was killed early Tuesday morning on Interstate 65 in Nashville after his truck traveled off the roadway and collided with several trees.
Barry Jenkins Jr., 30, was traveling north on I-65 at 6:20 a.m. when, for reasons unknown, his Ford pickup truck left the roadway and crashed into a tree line.
The truck snapped several trees before coming to rest on the passenger's side, pinning the driver inside his car.
Jenkins was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Two northbound lanes of I-65 were closed for several hours while crews cleared the scene.
Northbound traffic on I-65 was backed up into Williamson County.
The highway has since reopened.
