Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

On the heels of Monday night's cold front, a blast of winter temperatures will cover the mid-South for the next 48 hours.

Northerly winds could gust past 35 miles-per-hour Tuesday, dropping the wind chill factor to the mid-20s.

As winds fall off Tuesday evening and night, readings are expected to fall to the low-and middle 20s by daybreak on Wednesday in most areas.

Some outlying areas could see temperatures in the upper teens overnight.

Sunshine and less wind is expected for Wednesday with highs barely reaching the mid-40s.

Afternoon temperatures could moderate to the 60s Friday and the weekend.
