Thousands braved the cold Sunday, November 24, for an open casting call put on by Disney for a new Star Wars film due out in December 2015.
The meet-and-greet, located at the Sheraton Hotel at 623 Union Street, was originally set to start at Noon. However, crews opened the doors earlier than planned due to the cold temperatures and massive turnout.
Hundreds of people camped out overnight waiting to get inside. Temperatures dipped to 20 degrees in the early morning hours Sunday.
The casting call ran until 5 p.m., and anyone who showed up after 4 p.m. was turned away.
Crews are looking for two leading roles including a teen girl between ages 17 and 18, and a young man between ages 19 and 23.
"Throughout our whole road tour this is the biggest and the brightest and the earliest and the coldest so yeah, all of the above and that must mean that the actors are probably going to end up coming from Nashville," said casting representative, Mary Ellen Aviano.
Anyone outside of the mentioned age ranges will not be considered for the roles.
