NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The 51st annual ASCAP Awards were held in downtown Nashville, two days ahead of the highly anticipated CMA Awards.

During Monday night's event, top songwriter's and publishers were honored, including country legend George Strait.

"There's something magical about George Strait," country singer Jennifer Nettles said. "It's authentic and it's real."

Strait has a total of 82 CMA nominations throughout his career, including three Entertainer of the Year Awards. He's also nominated for the award this year.

He is set to bring his 2014 tour to Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on March 14.

The ASCAP Awards were held at the new Music City Center.
