Local food trucks battle it out at Centennial Park

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Armed with meals on wheels, more than 20 food trucks battled it out at the Nashville Street Food Awards Saturday at Centennial Park.

The free, all ages event included more than 20 food trucks competing with their dishes.

Some of the categories include Best Taco Best Smoked, Best Dessert, Best Hot Nashville, Best Vegetarian, Best Deep Fried, and Best Drink.

There were two Nashville brands featured in the categories, Best Yazoo and Best Olive & Sinclair.

A panel of local celebrity judges picked the best of the best and WKRN's Stephanie Langston emceed.

The Nashville Street Food Awards took place in the same location as Musicians Corner, and proceeds from beer sales were donated to Musicians Corner in support of free music in Centennial Park.

Julia's Bakery offered a cookie decorating table for children, where donations were accepted for Musicians Corner as well.

The event featured live music from NEULORE, Matt Giraud, Jill & Kate, AJ Cheek, The Young International and Chelsea Lankes.

Attendees had the opportunity purchase food from all participating trucks, including both regular menu items as well as small tastes, so patrons could sample food from multiple trucks.

There were also voting opportunities for the People's Choice Award, naming the crowd's overall favorite.

The event ran from Noon until 5 p.m.
