Tablet wars heat up for holidays

Tablet computers will be the hottest gift again this Christmas.

Apple released its new iPad Air on Friday. Thinner and lighter than the previous model, the Air comes loaded with iOS7 and a suite of apps such as iMovie and iPhoto.

"The iPad air is thinner and lighter. You're looking at one pound rather than 1.4 pounds," said Best Buy salesman Andy Bailey. "Apple products are very easy to use, very intuitive. You can find what you're looking for without spending a lot of time looking for it."

Bailey told News 2 other tablet computers are doing well with consumers.

Samsung's line of Galaxy tablets are the most popular Android tablet. Google's Nexus 7, according to Bailey, is geared toward business people and technology lovers.

Microsoft's Surface and Surface Pro is selling well among business people who normally would use laptop computers while traveling. The Surface can be used with a fold out keyboard.

Bailey recommends Amazon's Kindle Fire for parents with children.

"PParental controls on the Kindle Fire are phenomenal. So you can keep track of what your kids are doing, limit the time that they spend on the app or the tablet," said Bailey.

The newest Kindle Fire, the HDX retails for $229 for a 7" model.

The previous version of the Kindle Fire, the HD retails for $129.
