GALLATIN, Tenn. -

A Gallatin man was arrested Wednesday after police say he made up a story about an early morning home invasion.

The man called police around 5 a.m. Wednesday to say he awoke to find an armed man standing in his Woods Ferry Road home.

The homeowner, 27-year-old Fernando Rayas, reported he fired one shot when the suspect brandished a silver handgun.

After that, he said the suspect fled on foot.

During interviews with Rayas, detectives determined his story to be false.

Rayas was charged with of filing a false report and reckless endangerment because a two-year-old child was in the home when he fired his weapon.
