Woman's gas tank filled with sugar in Murfreesboro

A Murfreesboro woman's car was destroyed by an act of vandalism last Friday.

According to WGNS Radio, the woman called police after she discovered sugar had been poured into her vehicle's gas tank.

The woman, who lives on Saddlebrook Drive, found the damage as she attempted to fill up her car.  It's estimated to cost $1,500 to repair.

Car experts say pouring sugar into a gas tank will turn the sugar into a cement-like substance, the radio station reported.

It can quickly render a vehicle unusable, and if it isn't caught early, the sugar can seep into every nook and cranny of the engine, ultimately ruining it.
