NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Mall at Green Hills is planning to add another 125,000 square feet of retail space.

The multi-million dollar project is aimed toward meeting the demand for more high-end retailers.

Dillard's will be moved to the parking structure next to its location and is expected to be reopened by 2016.

The new store will boast 180,000 square feet.

The department store's current space will be rebuilt to accommodate several more retailers, open by 2018.

Since the construction will limit parking availability for shoppers, Dillard's the mall's owner have asked the Metro Board of Zoning Appeals for approval to build a new parking garage.

The garage would be located off of Cleghorn Avenue and would include sidewalks to increase walkability and connectivity to the neighborhood.

The board is expected to vote on the proposal November 12.

The total of the expansion has yet to be determined.
