Mother, kids displaced after townhome catches fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A family was forced out of their home after a fire early Saturday morning.

The fire sparked around 2 a.m. at a town home in the 600 block of North 5th Street in east Nashville.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the fire.

Officials told News 2 the home was undergoing construction and one person was living inside.

The units on both sides were also damaged by the fire. A woman and her four children who lived in one of those units were displaced due to fire damage.

She told News 2 she just moved to town and does not have any family in the area.

No one was living in the other unit.

The Red Cross is assisting to help the displaced residents and the Fire Marshal is on the scene investigating.
