A Dollar General employee was arrested Wednesday after the regional manager investigated potential inventory issues at a local business.

Victoria Watkins, 24, was charged with theft after officials say she created fraudulent refunds and slipped merchandise to customers without charge at the business located at 82 Lafayette Street.

Investigators found the fraudulent refunds amounted to $606.14, which was verified through security footage.

Watkins was also allegedly shown on footage slipping items to customers without charging them on several occasions.

Officials stated that when the regional manager approached Watkins, she admitted to the crimes.

Her thefts cost the store approximately $2,500 over two months.

Watkins has since been released from custody on $2,500 bond.
