GILES COUNTY, Tenn. -

Two Giles County residents face charges in separate cases for selling prescription medication paid for by the state's Medicaid healthcare insurance program.

Christina Marks, 24, and Melanie Reach, 43, were taken into police custody following a joint investigation with the Giles County Sheriff's Office and the Pulaski Police Department.

Authorities said Marks, who is charged with two counts of TennCare fraud, used the state's benefits to obtain the painkiller Lortab before selling a portion of the medication.

Reach is charged with one count of TennCare fraud. She used TennCare benefits to obtain Hydrocodone before selling and delivering a part of the prescription.

TennCare fraud is a Class E felony carrying a sentence of up to two years in prison per charge.

Anyone who suspects TennCare fraud can report it by calling 1-800-433-3982.
