Country superstar Dolly Parton sustained minor injuries in a car accident in Nashville Monday morning.

The crash involving Parton occurred at the intersection of Vaulx Lane and Kirkwood Avenue around 11:40 a.m.

Police reported Parton, 67, was the front seat passenger in an SUV that was driven by a 68-year-old woman when the pair was hit by another motorist traveling in a Mitsubishi Diamante.

Parton was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for her injuries. She has since been released.

Witnesses on the scene told News 2 three fire trucks, multiple police officers and a supervisor all responded to the scene.

A woman who lives nearby called 911 after hearing the collision. She told News 2 police and neighbors didn't immediately recognize the Country Music Hall of Fame member and Grammy winner.

"There were a lot of people that were in the neighborhood who came and stopped. People working on trees down there came up," said neighbor Kim Brothers. "There were a lot of people who came around. So on the sidelines, people were eventually saying, 'Goodness, look who it is.' But everyone was respectful too."

Late Monday afternoon, Parton took to her Twitter account writing, "I was in a fender bender this morning here in Nashville, but I am all good... Just a little tired and sore. Resting at home now!"

The two other drivers also involved in the crash were also taken to local hospitals for their injuries. None are said to be life-threatening.
