MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Fire investigators in Murfreesboro are asking for the public's assistance following a fire last weekend on the basketball court near the clubhouse in the city's Berkshire subdivision.

The fire is believed to have started last Friday night, October 11, around 10:30 p.m. although it wasn't reported until 5 a.m. the next morning.

Firefighters arrived to find the plastic lining around the basketball court smoldering.

Crews extinguished the fire, but approximately half of the lining was damaged.

Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.

Surveillance video captured at least one individual setting fire to the lining.  There are at least two other persons of interest.

Anyone with information is urged to call Murfreesboro Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP of the fire marshal's office at 615-849-2605.
