NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A mother who was accidentally shot by her upstairs neighbor late Sunday night while he was playing with his gun says her life has been forever changed.
The young mother was sound asleep when she was awoken by a loud bang around 11 p.m.
"I rolled over and I noticed blood splattered everywhere," the victim, who asked not to be identified said, adding, "I screamed out and my husband comes running in and noticed there was a hole in the ceiling and I had been shot."
The gunshot victim, who lives at Pine Brook Apartments, sustained multiple injuries and is now unable to pickup her young. The boy was sleeping in a crib just six feet from her bed when she was accidentally shot.
"They said I had gotten shot in the shoulder and it had [come] across my chest, missing my heart and any vital organs and stopped," she explained.
As she continues to recover, the mother said her life will never be the same again.
"He changed my life. I don't know if I will ever be able to have my hand back. I would hope it scared him and he realizes what he done. I hope he feels some sort of guilt. I hope he feels sorry," she said.
According to authorities, the gun's owner, David White, 22, admitted he was playing with the weapon inside his bedroom when it discharged.
He faces charges of reckless endangerment and two drug possession charges and has since been released on a $15,000 bond.
