Jake Locker returns to practice after hip injury

Titans quarterback Jake Locker returned to the practice field Wednesday for the first time since injuring his hip nearly three weeks ago.

Head coach Mike Munchak said Locker threw the ball well.

"I think it was a good start for him," Munchak told a gathering of reporters after practice. "We'll see how sore he is, we'll watch the tape and see how he's moving around, and go from there."

Munchak said they're taking it "day by day."

He did not rule Locker out for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers but said quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to start.

Munchak said Locker is "on schedule" with his recovery.

The third year quarterback went down during a pass attempt in September 29's Jets game and was carted off the field.

The Titans went on to defeat the Jets 38-13 but have lost two straight against the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks.

Kickoff against the 49ers is set for 3:05 p.m. Sunday at LP Field.
