NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Music City is welcoming back one of Christian music's biggest annual celebrations on Tuesday.

The Gospel Music Association Dove Awards have been held in Atlanta for the past two years, but will take place at David Lipscomb's Allen Arena this year.

The awards show honors artists who have made outstanding achievements in Christian music.

It will be hosted by Amy Grant and Kirk Franklin.

"There's so much energy around gospel music right now and I think it's totally fitting that they are back in Nashville, and it kind of gives us the chance to kind of reload the gun," Grant said.

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound are nominated for four awards this year, including Song of the Year, Southern Gospel Performance of the Year and Southern Gospel Song of the year, all for their hit "Sometimes I Wonder."

"You know it just feels right, it does. With so much music coming out of this city I think we record tracks everywhere, but this is the place where it starts for us," Haase told News 2. "The tracks are cut here, musicians who understand our music are here, so it just feels right to be back home in Nashville."

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound are mong the night's performers, along with Jason Crabb, Rhett Walker Nand, Michael W. Smith, and Tobymac.

Crabb, a Hendersonville native, told News 2 he's glad the award show is back in Nashville.

"We're very excited. I'm getting to do my single that's out. Jay DeMarcus with the Rascal Flatts produced part of the record, so he's going to join me on stage tonight. It's going to be a blast," he added.

The Dove Awards begin at 7 p.m. in the Allen Arena on Lipscomb University's campus.
