Dog runs away following Springfield crash

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. -

A man's dog fled the scene of a multi-vehicle crash in Springfield late Monday night.

According to Smokey Barn News, the accident occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Memorial Boulevard near 5th Avenue.

A man driving a truck reportedly tried to beat the light in an intersection and slammed into a sedan.  The impact was so strong, both vehicles spun through the street.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to NorthCrest Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

He was later taken into custody under suspicion of drunk driving.

The driver of the sedan had two dogs with him at the time of the accident.  He was not injured; however, as he and one of the dogs were trapped inside the vehicle, the second dog ran away.

It was last seen running up 4th Avenue into a subdivision near the Robertson County fairgrounds.

Smokey Barn was on the scene as the dog ran away.  The newspaper described it as a medium sized dog with a dark coat.  Her name is Abbey.

Anyone who sees the missing dog is urged to contact Smokey at 615-513-9844.
