A south Nashville couple who allegedly traveled to Maryland and murdered a woman on Saturday is now in Metro jail awaiting extradition.
Baldeo Taneja, 62, and his wife, Raminder Kaur, 63, were arrested Sunday afternoon.
Both face first degree murder charges for the death of Preeta Gabba, Taneja's ex-wife, in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Gabba was killed Saturday morning.
According to investigators, Taneja was scheduled to be in a Maryland courtroom last Thursday in connection with a civil matter concerning Gabb, but failed to appear.
Detectives learned that Taneja and Kaur were in Montgomery County, Maryland on Friday and Saturday.
They were arrested Sunday after leaving their Brooksboro Terrace apartment.
Two pistols were recovered from their vehicle. Potential evidence was also taken from their apartment.
Neighbors in Nashville said the couple kept to themselves.
"I saw him getting out of the car carrying stuff in, but no, I would never guess anything like this could ever happen," said neighbor Joyce Pruitt.
Another neighbor, Cory Brown, said, "Usually, this is what I consider the best part of the neighborhood. I call it The Hill and nothing ever happens up here, so when I see police over here, it's like, 'What's the heck going on?'"
Taneja and Kaur are being held in Nashville as fugitives from justice in lieu of $500,000 bond.
