Texas-based barbecue restaurant opens in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
A Dallas-based barbecue restaurant has made it's way to Middle Tennessee and opened it's doors Thursday.
The new Dickey's Barbecue Pit is located on Madison Street right next to Walmart in Clarksville.
On Thursday, the owners will host a grand opening, giving gift cards to the first 50 customers.
Dickey's began nearly 70 years ago in Dallas, Texas and is the largest barbecue chain in the United States with 300 locations.
Until now, the closest restaurants to Middle Tennessee were in Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia.
Laurie Deering and her husband decided they needed a new venture. The couple visited a Dickey's in Fort Worth and decided to open one up nearby with their friend Marcia Winn.
Marcia explained how they cook their meat every night to prepare it for the following day.
"Each evening, we rub [the meat] down, they are marinated for 24 hours before they go into the smoker. Then we smoke them low and slow. This pork butt and this brisket were put in last night at about 7 o' clock. They are smoked for 13 hours or so to get them perfectly moist and ready for customers," she said.
The owners also said their plan is open five of the restaurants throughout Middle Tennessee.
