NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A postal worker was shot with an airsoft gun while delivering mail to a neighborhood near the airport Wednesday.

Michael Gordon, 22, was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. in the 1000 block of Harold Drive after the postal worker called police.

She reported she was shot in the back of her right shoulder and immediately turned around to ask, "Who shot me?"

Gordon was standing on the stairs next door, allegedly holding an airsoft gun, and stated, while smiling, "Oh, my bad."

The postal worker, who has only been on the job for four months, said an argument ensued before she walked away to call authorities.

Nashville's News 2 Investigates spoke to the victim by phone on Thursday who said when she approached the complex more than a half a dozen people were on the stoop.

She said she was nervous, but continued on her route until she was shot by the airsoft gun.

According to the mail carrier, Gordon purposely shot her with the weapon and was laughing when she confronted him.

"He is stupid. I'm trying to make an honest living. He needs to get off the porch and go get a job and grow up and be a man not a child," the victim told Nashville's News 2 Investigates.

Gordon was arrested and charged with assault.

He was released just before 1 a.m. Thursday on $5,000 bond.

The mail carrier was back on the job Thursday, but worked a different route.
