NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The land purchase has been finalized for what will become the tallest building in Nashville's Green Hills neighborhood.

Southern Land Company has purchased 2.5 acres of land at the intersection of Hillsboro Pike and Richard Jones Road.

The Franklin-based firm is planning to break ground next year on a mixed-use project, including a 22-story residential tower.

The tower will consist of about 300 studio, one and two bedroom units. Unit sizes will range from 500 square feet to 2,500 square feet.

In addition, the project will include approximately 15,000 square feet of ground-floor restaurant and retail space and 50,000 square feet of office space.

Residents nearby have already contacted developers to voice their concerns about additional traffic the project would bring to the area.

Southern Land Company CEO Tim Downey said his firm plans to make improvements to the existing intersection, including dedicating land for an extra turn lane and cutting down on curb cuts.

Construction is expected to begin in the spring or summer of 2014.

The building won't be open for business until late 2015 or early 2016.
