FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

This week, Franklin firefighters will be at the Cool Springs Galleria informing the public about fire safety.

The efforts are part of National Fire Prevention week.

"The fire safety theme for the Nashville fire protection association is to prevent kitchen fires. Kitchen fires are the number one cause of fires in the U.S. They're also the number one cause of fires in Franklin over the last several years," said Geoff Woolard, Assistant Fire Marshal at the Franklin Fire Department.

The firefighters will also be visiting area schools throughout the month of October to inform students on the importance of fire safety.

The Franklin Fire Department will be at the Cool Springs Galleria daily until Friday.
