NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Nashville AIDS Walk and 5K Run raised money and awareness on Saturday for the fight against HIV/AIDS in Middle Tennessee.

The race started at 11 a.m. and over 1,000 people attended to support Nashville Cares, Tennessee's largest HIV/AIDS services organization.

Tipper Gore, wife of former Vice President Al Gore, is a chair person for the event.

Festivities at the 5K included a community and business Fair, food trucks and children's activities.

1980s pop star Tiffany held a post-race concert and even jumped into the crowd during her performance.

Benefits from the run will go toward the thousands of individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Davidson County, and 17 surrounding counties of northern Middle Tennessee.

Saturday's race raised over $225,000, a record breaking amount for the event.
