Preschoolers vote for best toys of the year

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

As Christmas approaches, shoppers often wonder what the most popular children's toys are.

This year the decision was left to the kids at the Goddard School in Franklin during its preschooler-approved toy test.

The children range in ages from infant to six-years-old.  They played with interactive toys while teachers watched and documented how the toys fared against certain criteria.

"Manufacturers apply directly to Goddard to be able to participate, and then the manufacturers send the toys directly to us.  There are 40 schools across the nation participating this week, and we all receive the same toys," said Amy Wilcox, Executive Director of the Goddard School.

The children will cast votes on their favorite toys and the top 10 preschooler approved toys will be announced in late October.
