Brentwood pastor to thank fire station for saving life

A local pastor will meet the first responders who saved his life after he went into cardiac arrest while on a run on June.

Pastor Rob Taylor of Calvary Chapel in Brentwood was revived by emergency personnel from Nashville Fire Station No. 8 on June 21 after neighbors found him lying in the street.

The neighbors called 911 and performed CPR until emergency personnel could arrive.

When the first responders arrived, they defibrillated Taylor several times while transporting him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

They were able to revive him just before arriving at the hospital. He made a full recovery and was discharged one week later.

Pastor Taylor hopes to thank the first responders on Friday.

In this case, however, the neighbors and paramedics were equally responsible for saving Taylor's life.

Emergency responders say it's important the public learns CPR so that anyone who requires help will have a better chance of survival while paramedics are on their way.
