Titans QB Jake Locker will 'work hard' to return

Posted:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker is looking forward to getting back on the field after injuring his hip during last Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

In speaking with the media Wednesday, Locker said he "never felt anything like it" when he went down during a pass attempt in the third quarter.

He said when it happened he didn't think the hit to chest by the Jets' Muhammad Wilkerson was dirty and still doesn't after reviewing the tape.

An MRI Tuesday revealed no major damage to Locker's hip joint.  The area will need time to heal and strengthen but he doesn't need surgery.

Locker, who is also nursing a sore knee from the injury, said he's unsure when he'll return.

"I'm just going to continue to work as hard as I can. I want to be out there next week. I want to be out there this week so I'm going to do everything I can to get out there as quick as possible," he said, adding, "What that time table is I really don't know but I'm going to do everything in my power to get out there as soon as I can."

The Titans will take on the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs Sunday at LP Field. Kickoff is at Noon.

Backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will likely get the start.
