Titans QB Jake Locker suffered hip sprain, will miss a few weeks

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Tennessee Titans say quarterback Jake Locker suffered a sprained hip during Sunday's win over the New York Jets and will likely miss a few weeks.

In a statement Tuesday, the team called the results from Locker's second MRI encouraging and said no major damage to his hip joint was revealed.

While the area will need time to heal and strengthen, it won't require surgery.

The team said Locker has already begun a rehab routine for both his hip and knee, which he also injured when he went down during a pass attempt in the third quarter of the game.

Prior to the injury, Locker was having arguably the best game of his career.  He was 18 of 24 for 149 yards, three touchdowns and no picks.

The Titans and backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick went on to defeat the Jets 38-13.

Coach Mike Munchak is reportedly talking with the league about some of the hits Locker received from the New York Jets defenders on Sunday.

Sources say the league is looking into those hits, but there has been no word yet if any fines will be issued.

The Titans will take on the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs Sunday at LP Field. Kickoff is at Noon.
