NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Police say one of two teens who attempted to burglarize a home Monday fired a shot at the homeowner.

The incident occurred in the 3400 block of Anderson Road near Priest Lake.

The victim told police he heard a noise, saw an open window and witnessed two teens, later discovered to be ages 13 and 14, running from his home.

He said the 14-year-old then turned around and fired a shot at him.  He was not injured.

A witness reported seeing the two boys run into a nearby apartment.

Police swarmed the area. The 14-year-old attempted to flee, but the 13-year-old was placed into custody.

After a short chase on foot, authorities say the 14-year-old was apprehended.

The handgun he allegedly used was found inside the apartment.

Both boys were charged with attempted aggravated burglary and loitering during school hours.

The 13-year-old is also charged with marijuana possession, and the 14-year-old faces additional charges of aggravated assault and unlawful handgun possession.
