Vandy Coach Franklin busy dodging questions regarding USC job

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Vanderbilt's head coach James Franklin is very excited about playing Missouri on Saturday.

If you ask him about his name being tossed around as a possible replacement for Lane Kiffin at USC, he will tell you he is very excited about playing Missouri on Saturday.

If you ask him anything about USC, he will tell you he is very excited about playing Missouri on Saturday because their colors, like Vanderbilt, are black and gold.

Franklin has been on virtually every list of possible new head coaches for the Trojans.

USC fired Kiffin on Sunday, five weeks into his fourth season at the school. The Trojans posted a disapointing 4-7 record in their last 11 games under Kiffin.

At his weekly news conference Monday, Franklin dodged numerous questions about the topic.

"I mean, for once I'd like to sit in this press conference and talk about either the game before or the game we're playing this week," he said. "Anything outside of that is outside of our control," Franklin said.

Franklin is in his third season with the Commodores. Since his arrival, the Commodores have posted a 18-13 record and have one 10 of their last 12 games.

The Commodores face Missouri on Saturday at Dudley Field.
