Winning season means winning sales for Titans apparel

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A winning season means winning sales for local retailers offering Tennessee Titans gear.

Sport Seasons has seen an uptick in sales of Titans merchandise this year at its Rivergate Mall location and its five other stores in Tennessee following the team's 3-1 start.

Lance Bowers, Licensed Apparel Buyer for Sport Seasons, told News 2 sales of team paraphernalia is a direct reflection of a team's season.  The more the team wins, the more the stores sell.

Currently, Titans t-shirts are big sellers, as well as vehicle flags, lanyards, and other smaller items.

Customers opting for a jersey are going for No. 10, quarterback Jake Locker, and No. 28, running back Chris Johnson.

"People always want the quarterback," Bowers said, "and people like Jake Locker. He's personable."

Locker fans are waiting with baited breath to see if the budding quarterback will return to play following a hip injury in Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

Locker left the field on a stretcher and spent the night at a local hospital.  The extent of his injury was not clear Monday morning.

"Sunday was a win, but it was also a loss," Bowers said.

Locker was seen by many as coming into his own on the field.  He threw three touchdown passes in the first half and completed 18 of 24 passes prior to his injury.

Despite the team's 38-13 victory over the Jets, analysts and fans are already looking toward the challenges of the coming weeks when the Titans take on two undefeated teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks.

While Titans players are ready to rally around backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick if necessary, as they did during the last half of Sunday's game, Bowers is ready for a come back, with Locker's jersey stocked and priced to sell at Sport Seasons.
