The third year quarterback was taken to the locker room and quickly transported to Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, where he spent the night. He was released around 11:30 a.m. and had already been to the Titans practice facility for treatment by the time Munchak's 1:30 p.m. news conference began.
NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted Monday morning that he believed Locker would miss four to eight weeks. The Tennessean's Jim Wyatt reported late Monday morning that Locker would be out at least a month.
In a statement released Monday afternoon, Locker thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
He said, "I am going to work as hard as I can to get back as soon as I can. I believe in this team and will do whatever I can to help us win in the meantime."
The hip area injury is likely one of three possibilities, according to one of Nashville's leading hip and fracture doctors.
Dr. Philip Kregor formerly headed emergency orthopedic trauma at Vanderbilt University Medical Center before starting his own Nashville hip and fracture practice.
He told News 2 Monday that Locker's doctors are probably looking a cartilage tear, muscle tear or a smaller fracture from Locker's trauma was undetected by the X-ray taken at the LP Field.
Dr. Kregor said that if some reports are correct about Locker being out four to eight weeks, "I think is more consistent with a muscle injury or soft tissue injury."
He also told News 2 that it's very common on hip injuries for a second MRI because "they are a little bit tricky to read, and sometimes the injury takes a little bit of time to be clear in the image."
Dr. Kregor added that even if its a muscle injury for Locker, "it's still going to hurt like heck."
Prior to the injury, Locker was having arguably the best game of his career. He was 18 of 24 for 149 yards, three touchdowns and no picks.
The Titans and backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick went on to defeat the Jets 38-13.
